What an absolutely incredible sculpt! This model was utterly incredible to paint!
I personally feel this is perhaps my best skin work to-date! I am so pleased with the outcome, I continue to fall in love with my oil paints!
The sculpt is The 7 Dwarfs made by Spira Mirabilis Miniatures, you can see their incredible works here: https://www.spiramirabilisminiatures.com/home
The Dreamer from Blood Carrot Knights is the first completed miniature of 2021!!!
I absolutely loved this miniature! The goal through the entire process of painting was to focus on painting a model with a strong directional light! I feel like I accomplished it well!
If you want to buy the model so you can paint it yourself you can find it here: https://bloodcarrotknights.com/collection/tproduct/158786641-345502448846-the-dreamer-leprechaun-figure
This was an absolutely incredible experiment. The idea was simply to not use a brush ever on the model. So I used the smallest palette knives that I could find! I am incredibly satisfied with the results, it looks astounding and I want to do it again!
Wow, this miniature was quite the undertaking! This thing is truly the king of the beasts! I mean, seriously…
What a fun miniature to paint! I really love how he turned out and I can’t wait to die to him many, many times :D! I love how the fur texture came out and I just really feel like this miniature is easily one of my best works.
Rocky the Dragon, presiding over his treasure :D!
I decided to paint him up in the fashion of a Lava Dragon, which I am very excited with how he turned out! He was painted using oil paints over the course of 4 hours!
This miniature is made by Reaper Miniatures, you can find him and all his adorableness here.
What an incredible piece to work on! I love this miniature completely and it was so much fun to paint!
I know nothing in terms of the in game lore yet, but even still this monster fills me with dread. I worry what will happen when our settlement crosses paths with The Watcher! I fear nobody will survive…
“There was once an entity that knew everything, but never spoke. For every secret that escaped, it became weaker and its enemies stronger.“ - Kingdom Death: Monster Core Rulebook, pg. 159
Knowing so little about this nemesis leaves me with chills. We’ve learned so much, but also so little. While playing the game The Hand remains this ever looming mystery that we simply don’t yet grasp, it terrifies me.
So stoic, yet chaotically cryptic! I loved trying to decide what colors to use and opted for a more vibrant color palette. If nature likes to make the dangerous creatures bright and flashy, I felt compelled to do the same…
“The Phoenix fills the horizon of your mind. Complex and disturbing, your very essence seems to flicker like a dying lantern. A perfect mixture of excitement and dread shakes up your insides. Before you realize it, you find yourself stepping forward to battle.“ - Kingdom Death: Monster Core Rulebook, pg. 163
This miniature was absolutely incredible to paint! Not only did it offer incredible details and opportunities for color, but the model itself is so deeply unique.
Really getting my hands dirty with oil paints, I took to this mini completely by brush, and I am incredibly pleased with the outcome. I never imagined I could obtain such blends with only a brush and some paints. Oils have really helped me achieve the blending I desire.
The Sun Stalker from the first kit from the Kingdom Death: Monster expansions of death bundle!! I am so happy with how this miniature turned out! One of the largest miniatures (135mm base) I’ve ever painted, I am really excited with how well the oils and colors blended on this miniature!
I decided to stick with the concept art colors for this miniature. I love the green and buff blends on the main body with the nice ochre and asphaltum colors on the tentacles!
This was the first use of a face-roller 3D model that I printed off to be able to roll out green stuff for bases, I am really happy with it! You can download the roller: here!
The Oktoberfest Aya player character from the Oktoberfest Aya Pinup model set from Kingdom Death: Monster was absolutely astounding to paint! I am so happy with how she turned out!
This was my first real go at using oil paints and I am incredibly impressed! The only part of her that isn’t done with oil paint is her skin-tone, those colors haven’t arrived yet (at the time of painting).
The base for her was a combination of UV curing resin, oils, and a vacuum chamber. By pulling the air out of the resin I got it to foam and bubble, creating what I think is an excellent beer effect on the base!
This miniature is sold as a kit with the player character here and a large art piece, which I hope to paint in October of 2020!
This was such an incredible miniature to paint! One of the most vicious Nemeses you'll fight in Kingdom Death: Mosnter. I am absolutely thrilled with how the base turned out, I wanted to do a decapitated survivor, but I had no idea I would manage to find just the right pieces.
The Raw Hide Kit and Leather Kit both contained the pieces I needed to make a kneeling survivor!
So if you're looking to do this yourself it is 100% doable! You just gotta grab the right pieces!!
Here we are! The first Patreon post and definitely not the last! (check me out here: https://www.patreon.com/steep_t)
Here we have the Frog Wizard from Dark Sword Miniatures, which was just so much fun to paint! It was nice to take a break and step away from a artist block with another mini, I am happy to just get to execute at my current skill level here instead of my usual push for growth. I think it's important that when you're growing as an artist it's valuable to take moments to just do instead of learn as it can really help solidify your existing skills.
Look forward to more works here! I plan to make at least 1 update per stream and updates as other offline miniatures are in the works.
If you want to order the Frog Wizard by Dark Sword Miniatures you can find it here: https://www.darkswordminiatures.com/shop/index.php/miniatures/visions-in-fantasy-critters/frog-wizard.html
Stay steept!!
“Once, a couple of despondent survivors wandered into the darkness. Following faint cries. they arrived at a river of blood. Floating on its languid current, a baby in a basket of woven fur.“ - Kingdom Death Monster
My first official DLC for the game, the beautiful Ringtailed Vixen from Kingdom Death Monster! I loved painting her, she has such fun colors and the sculpt is absolutely incredible! The claws are so small and fine that they’re actually sharp, which is insane for a 30mm miniature! She’s beautiful and I really feel like I leveled up on the hair!!
“There was once a fearsome monster that was trained by the Hand to be a steed for the Goblin. However, upon smelling its new master, the monster's mind shattered and it ran into the unknown, foaming at the mouth and biting the noses off the stone faced floor.“ - Kingdom Death Monster
This miniature was absolutely incredible to paint! I absolutely loved how this turned out and my theme of purple on the monsters of this game is looking awesome! My first and major attempt at free-hand on the muscles and I absolutely am blown away with how it looks!
As a challenge for everyone in my Stream Discord, we’re painting Space Marines in the style of a specific genre or famous artist. I chose Banksy who is world renown for their evocative works highlighting social and political aspects of our world.
I really enjoyed the painting that shredded itself. And so I decided it would be a cool experience to paint up a forced-perspective Space Marine. Additionally I got to work with negative space a bunch by painting the marine it’s under-tone colors of white and red. Then using black enamel paint and white spirits I was able to then coat the who marine in black and selectively uncover portions of color.
These creatures are found in the warm jungles and forests of the world and spend their days searching for plants, fruits, and berries on which to sustain themselves. - Pathfinder SRD
This was an absolutely amazing piece to work on! I love the iridescent paints and how the look on the shell! This was a lot of thin layers of the GSW Chameleon Paints, and I'm absolutely impressed!!
This was painted on stream along with the amazing ArtOfMikeDisney on Twitch.
You can pick up the Giant Rhino Beetle from Reaper Miniatures here.
The Butcher is a fierce nemisis from the amazing game Kingdom Death: Monster. Unlike other monsters who are hunted by the survivors, this one hunts you! Finding it's way to your encampment you've got only one option, fight or die!
I have now been painting for 2 whole years!! I started in December of 2017 and after two years it’s amazing to see where I am at and where I came from! I love this miniature! It’s the same as my first mini, this time painted up with all the skills I learned in the last 2 years of painting! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! I look forward to the next two years!
The White Lion is a fierce and voracious hunter! It’s the first encounter when you play Kingdom Death: Monster Prologue and is a recurring hunt during the main campaign of the game! A terrifying monster to behold and an incredibly fun miniature to paint! I had a blast working on the different textures and even creating the custom base for it! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
This is one of 4 Starting Survivors I painted up for the game Kingdom Death: Monster! I put a lot of effort into trying a new process I’ve been learning called “OSL“. “OSL” stands for Object Source Lighting, which is a painting technique where you paint the model with a direct source of light (instead of above) on the miniature. I hope you like it!

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age. - H.P. Lovecraft, The Call of Cthulhu
This was massive!! I cannot believe the endeavor it was to paint this miniature! I am astounded at how it turned out and really proud of it! This was the most I’ve ever used an airbrush, and I have to say I fully intend to use it more after this. The blends, the highlights, shadows, accents, all of it feels amazing to me and I think the Airbrush was the perfect tool to do it. This miniature took approximately 80 hours to complete, starting with the 24 hour live stream in October 2019. It was a pain to fit on my desk, a pain to carry around, but I love my “little” Toddler Cthulhu :D!
The massive burrowing monster known as the purple worm terrorizes the creatures of the Underdark as it chews through solid rock in pursuit of prey. A dim-witted, ravenous force of nature, this creature regards anything it encounters as food. - D&D Beyond
The Giant Purple Worm has been one of my favorite monsters from Dungeons & Dragons since I was a kid! It was a complete birthday surprise when I managed to snag this model from Ebay in 2018! Overall this was an incredibly fun model to paint, and I really loved all of the texture and life that Gale Force Nine put into the production of this model. Limited to 1000 models, I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to paint such a masterpiece :D!
A lone bastion of beverage stands aloft his throne of biscuits. His porcelain chalice hangs languidly in his grip, flowing eternally the sweet nectars of steeped fruits, nuts, and leaves. Eons mark the world through his gaze as nary time nor death may touch him. Many have travelled the crumbling wastes and frosted mountains hoping to gleam his drink across their lips and fill their vessel full.
This model was incredibly fun to paint and the basing really was a huge opportunity to practice my skills using liquid water. I am very happy with it and I plan to do more water on bases like this in the future. The trick was to layout the resin on a glass surface and then melt it back into place on the model.
The first bust I ever painted, and surely not the last!
Enor was an incredible model to paint! I absolutely love the detail on this figure and on resin this model printed with incredible ease. It was already hollowed out to assist with printing as well! I really learned a lot about how to paint eyes with him, and the skin-tone on his face I am very proud of! I feel that I really captured the mystic of age well on this model.
Here comes the lightning!! Calrod is my young half-elf warlock that I am playing in the D&D module Storm Kings Thunder!!! He is eager, overlooks his shortcomings, and absolutely new to the world he is wandering! Will he die a painful death, or live on to be reveled as a hero!?
I really enjoyed working on this model, as it was an excellent opportunity to experiment on some new techniques with layering, shading, and physical lightning! I hope you see as much vigor and excitement as I try to have when role-playing him :p!
This model was quite the challenge to paint! When one of the players in my D&D campaign asked me to paint him, I didn’t realize at first that he would be dressed in all black until after I uttered the fated word “absolutely”! Black has never really been one of my strengths in painting, and so having to work on Rydel was actually a treat because I learned a lot.
This model was exceptionally fun to paint! I hadn’t really tried to blend before like I did on the flames. I am absolutely astounded with the outcome! This model will be one of my favorites for a long time.
Character Death (12/15/2019): Jarak took it upon himself to be first to wake the Adult Red Dragon. Dimension Door himself behind the dragon he attempted to find any eggs it may have. Whilst searching, Jarak declared loudly “gimme dem eggies”, which needless to say woke the dragon. Upon awakening, the dragon swatted Jarak with her tail and then promptly ate him.
This little guy walked out of the rubble inside of a town devastated by giants while playing Storm Kings’ Thunder. He followed us around and Calrod even took Beast Speech just to be able to talk with him! In the end we returned him to his last living owner who was very relieved to see him again. What a wonderful little animal to hang out with us!
